The journey to greatness begins with kindness.

My name is Ash, and Halocy is the result of my experiences with giving and my experiences with the charities I support. Halocy is the result of the desires of donors for a more transparent approach to micro-philanthropy.
Throughout my life, I have donated items to many charities such as Toys for Tots, Habitat for Humanity, etc. But I always wondered what happened to the items afterwards. Who did they help? Where in the world did they end up? Then I would forget about it until the next time I donated.
My household is a philanthropic one — even my kids got involved in donating time and items to charities. They raised money for a non-profit to help our troops during the 4th of July festivals. The non-profit supplied the kids with a “Thank You” banner for their event table. People that walked by the table signed the banner, and some even donated. The non-profit then sent the banner to troops in Afghanistan. But I remember wondering if the troops ever received it, and what their reaction had been. As this was more for the kids to get involved, I didn’t pursue it.
Three years ago, I started volunteering for another non-profit — helping first-generation immigrants with resume writing, interview skills, and confidence building. I met many executives from various companies, and it was during this wonderful experience my life changed forever. As I was working directly with the kids we were helping, I was able to see the positive outcomes as they happened firsthand! The sense of achievement and satisfaction gave all the volunteers inspiration to return each year.
It was then that I understood the psychology of giving. People who have a passion for giving want to see the results or impact of their donations or efforts. This firsthand feedback fuels the passion, enthusiasm, and determination of volunteers and givers alike.
Halocy was born.
How does it work….
This experience inspired me to create Halocy — a platform to track donations and promote community projects. Halocy allows donors to see the results of their giving and participate in local initiatives through technology. The ultimate goal of Halocy goal is to provide positive feedback to motivate and inspire the giving process. Although this is an iteration of an existing concept, the idea of tagging a donation and tracking it to its final destination is only the first step.
Halocy is playing a leading role in various community-based charitable projects. Halocy will eventually feature a community project management function, which will allow people to start local projects, invite others, tag each donation, and track the overall success of their fundraising efforts. The project leader can then share the progress with all of the project members.
We want to make your passion for giving fun, rewarding, and worthwhile. But most importantly, we want to show people the results of their generosity and kindness — as that can inspire powerful emotions that make the world a better place.
